A recording featuring Gamut strings

 Timothy Burris: Ciaccona

We are always pleased when artists feature Gamut Strings on recordings and there is one recent release we would especially like to feature.

Timothy Burris is an important lute player who has come out with a new recording featuring a series of passacaglias and ciaconnas by Jaques Saint-Luc, Silvius Weiss, Giavanni Zamboni, Robert de Visée, Georg Muffat. Also included on the disc is his personal transcription of Bach’s violin Ciaccona in d BWV 1004.

There are two instruments featured on the disc made by Richard Berg in Ottawa: a 13 course baroque lute modeled after Hans Burkholtzer and a 14 course liuto attiorbato modeled after Railich. All of the strings on the instruments are made by us and feature our Treble gut, Lyon gut, Pistoy gut and Silver Gimped strings. This is a wonderful recording with a rich, sonorous tone that really show the tonal qualities that are only possible with real gut strings.

We encourage all lovers of lute music to purchase this recording, you will be very pleased you did. It is available in both download and disc through CD Baby by following this link.
