Larson Legacy Stave 30cm 4-String Rebec
Dan Larson has been making instruments for over 50 years, collecting various items around the workshop during that time. He created some of these instruments as experiments, to test new techniques or molds, and occasionally simply for fancy. Some of them were played by Dan and Bobbye back in their musical days. Some were made and never offered for sale because something shiny caused a distraction. A couple of them were left with Dan for repair 30 years ago and abandoned. Each instrument has a story, and now it's time for them to be played by someone who needs them and can take care of them.
This instrument is part of the Larson Legacy Sale. It was made for Bobbye to play when she was studying at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. It is a treble instrument with a 30cm string length tuned to e-1, a-2, d-3, and G-4. Made of nine maple staves and has a Western cedar one-piece front. The fingerboard is curved, made from vermillion lacewood. The tailpiece is rosewood. It has a bone nut and rosewood pegs.
