First Class Mail Brought Back to Shipping Options

[March 2022 – Gamut Music has formed a partnership with UPS to serve as our preferred shipping service. At checkout, you will see a range of shipping options including ground (for domestic shipments) and various expedited services.]

One of the most common comments we get from customers is the complaint about the cost of shipping. Postal rates have gone up a recently and packing materials continue to rise in price and the result is that getting string orders to our customers is just expensive.

At the end of 2012 we deleted first class mail from our shipping options because we lost many orders in the mail last year. Since it is the policy of Gamut Music to replace orders that have gotten lost in the mail, first class mail cost us a lot of money in 2012. Since there is no tracking number on first class mail, there is no way to find out where a package may have gone if it is missing. The greatest value of Priority and Express mail is that we can track the location of a shipment and, therefore, be assured that it will get to our customers.

However, many of our customers feel that this extra expense is not necessary and they do not want to pay the extra charge for Priority Mail. Therefore, we have brought the First Class Mail option back and you will now be able to choose this method for receiving your order.

This does not mean that we have changed our mind about the security of First Class Mail. We still feel that it is an unsecured method and you will choose this method at your own risk.

Gamut Music will not accept responsibility for packages sent via USPS First Class Mail; if a package is lost or delayed we will not replace it.

There is one more exception: First Class Mail cannot be used on shipments outside of the USA that has a value greater than $400. So, if you live somewhere other than the USA and you order has a value greater than $400, we will have to send the strings by Priority Mail to be within the postal regulations.
