Gamut Music has added a new type of wound string to our Academie line.
In our efforts to respond to customers' inquiries and requests, we are releasing a new string that will be welcome to all of those who long for a bass string that won't discolor as it is used.
Gut/NIckel Contrabass String
The Gut/Nickel string is a perfect solution for the player who wants a full-tone string slick playing action. We use a solid nickel wire for these strings, so the surface can be polished down for a smooth playing surface, making it comfortable to play with little string noise. These polished round-wire strings have a quick, responsive tone with a nice, warm sustained tone.
The Gut/Nickel are available for the A-3 and E-4 positions and, when used in combination in conjunction with the new nylon wound G-1 and D-2 strings, you can recreate the real tone of the bass masters of the 1950s and 1960s.
